Color-shift Test
TN+Film and MVA/PVA panels have so called “color-shift” problem resulting in tonal contrast distortion depending on viewing angle.
When user looks stright he might see color-balanced image.
But when he looks from left ot right side he may see destorted color range.
For the last years this test helps to exactly identify high quality S-IPS and A-FFS panels (compatible with MS IE 6.x, Mozilla 1.x and Opera 6.x navigators).
Firstly, move you head to a straight position against the monitor (it's likely for this test when distance from eyes to panel is more than a display's diagonal size).
Then make all 6 boxes to be as same color as it possible by pressing “+” or “” buttons.
When boxes will appear as a big solid gray square, just take a look from a left and right side, and thenfrom top and bottom.
If you will notice boxes start to change color and to dissolve in separate rectangles, this definitely indicates you are testing TN+Film, MVA/PVA or some old kind of IPS panel.
Note: a lot of tasks, which requires special color accuracy, are not compatible with “color-shift” issues.
